MARKETING MANAGER

THE COMPANY:

Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board, also known as Tourism Malaysia is an agency under the Ministry of Tourism Arts and Culture Malaysia. Tourism Malaysia Office Frankfurt is a branch of the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board, to promote the destinations in Malaysia and conduct tourism related marketing activities in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Poland, Republic Czech, Hungary and Slovakia.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Profession as a Marketing Manager within the team of Tourism Malaysia Office in Frankfurt and to execute and develop a bold and sound branding, communication and marketing strategy that position Malaysia as a preferred holiday destination. To conduct tourism related marketing and promotional activities in promoting Malaysia especially to the German speaking market namely Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

MAIN MISSIONS:

Under the direction of the Director of the Tourism Malaysia Office in Frankfurt, Germany:

  1. MARKETING PROMOTION & PUBLICITY
    • To plan, prepare and implement marketing and promotion activities to position Malaysia as a preferred holiday destination:
      1. Plan and prepare annual marketing activities of local promotions based on budget allocated by HQ for approval.
      2. Plan and prepare a proposed marketing activity/event such as sales mission, tactical campaign, exhibition, fair, roadshow, travel-mart, seminars, B2B session and others to Headquarters for assessments, budget allocation, logistics, publicity, and HQ approvals.
      3. Handle and execute all HQ initiated programs/events in the market area.
      4. Prepare intelligence inputs, latest trend, and tourism statistics to and from headquarters.
      5. Coordinate all main media and tour operators to be involved in any Tourism Malaysia programs and strategies.
      6. Prepare weekly marketing activity report, monthly report, and other relevant marketing reports to headquarters.
    • To plan, coordinate, monitor and execute publicity and advertising activities with appointed PR Agency to position Malaysia as a preferred holiday destination in terms of:
      1. Annual Public Relations Program.
      2. Integrated Marketing Communications, Media Communication, Press and Public Relations.
      3. Direct Mail and Database Marketing.
      4. Ad-Hoc Projects.
      5. Website and social media.
      6. Trade and Media Contacts & Relations.
  2. MARKET DEVELOPMENT
    • To execute Market Development activities to position Malaysia as preferred holiday destination
      1. Monitor and report current development in the market which may affect travelling to Malaysia.
      2. Identify and recommend new products to be packaged and promoted in the market.
      3. Coordinate and organize travel trade or media in the market and from Malaysia on their promotional and publicity campaigns.
      4. Suggest programs and activities for Industry partners (locally or from Malaysia) with the range of business development and networking opportunities.
      5. Coordinate and organize dissemination of information to travel trade, media, clubs, association, etc. to generate greater awareness and interest on Malaysia tourism products and attractions.

PROFILE:

  • Hold a Master / bachelor’s degree in Tourism / Marketing or equivalent with a minimum of 2-3 years experience in a similar role in the tourism sector.
  • Organized, rigorous, possess a true sense of organization, creative and proactive, positive, and voluntary attitude are the qualities required for this position.
  • Have great writing skills and oral fluency (presentation of the destinations to an international audience) in German and English. Able to speak and write in Polish is a plus quality.
  • Master the use of computer tools (Microsoft Office - words, excel, powerpoint, publisher, etc.), knowledgeable in the notions of web marketing and social media.
  • Good personality and able to work independently.

CONDITIONS OF THE POSITION:

  • Based at Tourism Malaysia Office in Frankfurt, able to travel around Germany and other markets under purview and occasionally to Malaysia when required.
  • Able to work on certain weekends, hours till nighttime especially during participation in fairs, workshops or familiarizations trips, other internal events, Headquarters’ activities, and networking in connection to marketing promotional activities. Additional days and hours will be covered accordingly, based on terms and conditions.
  • The position requires presence in the office from Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm. This is an important aspect of the role as it allows for effective collaboration and teamwork within our dynamic work environment.
  • Availability to commence work by June/July 2024.
